Promoting Our Island Businesses
We are passionate about our business and we love living on the island. We are very aware of the importance of buying local. We see our high streets in decline and we believe that showcasing local produce, products and services can help drive sales and hopefully open some shops.
So this is our first event at The Wighthill. We have a large function room and bar area and hope that this will be the first of many events.
We understand that to make this first event a success, we will have to spend more money marketing and operating this event than we will take in revenue (especially with the current business and utility costs). However, we see this as an opportunity to showcase local products and services. And, at the same time showcase our hotel, self catering bungalows and function room. There are a number of events that are held in Sandown and unfortunately some are not well attended. We intend to leaflet homes, businesses, restaurants and bars. Advertise online, social media and in the County Press and radio.
Marketing this event is a priority.
Date and Times
This is a weekend event, from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd December. The event will open from Friday noon. We will leave it to the stall-holder as to what time they open and close their stall. Each evening the emphasis will be on fun and the bar will be open, with soft music or local musicians, and hopefully some Christmas craft workshops will be operating in the evenings. The event will close Sunday night. There will be secure rooms for stallholders to store items if they wish.
The cost per stall is £25 for the whole weekend, whether you require 1,2 or 3 days. We will collect the fee a couple of weeks before the event, just to confirm stalls and have enough time to offer to those on the waiting list.
