The Worlds Largest and Oldest Yacht Event
Saturday, 2nd August – Friday, 8th August
Cowes week is a major event. In fact, it is one of the biggest and longest-running events in the world. For almost two hundred years, the best sailors have pitted their expertise and bravery in the world’s most famous sailing regatta. Traditionally the event is held in August after Glorious Goodwood and before the Glorious Twelfth (the start of grouse hunting season).
Since being founded in 1826, the best yachtsmen and yachts have visited the Island every year to compete. Many celebrities and even royalty take part or spectate. More than 8,000 sailors participate, ranging from Olympic champions to everyday weekend sailors.
Racing itself is set in the challenging waters of the Solent and starts from the iconic Cowes Castle, home to the Royal Yacht Squadron with its distinctive display of brass cannons that are fired as the starting guns.
Of course, you don’t have to own a yacht or be a sailor to enjoy Cowes Week. The town is full of colour and entertainment throughout the week during the daytime and into the evening, so there is always plenty to see and do.
Also, don’t forget the spectacular fireworks display on the last Friday evening – another annual tradition of Cowes Week.
The Cowes Week dates are 2nd August = 8th August 2025. Sailors of all abilities will compete in over 40 different classes over the eight days. Each day of the event has plenty of exciting regatta racing to watch and opportunities to soak up the party atmosphere.
In addition to the boats, lots are going on for spectators at several venues, including live music, family activities and fireworks.
Are there offers or promotions for this event? YES.
