Blackgang Chine is the UK’s oldest theme park. The theme park was built 180 years ago by Alexander Dabell and his descendants still operate the park. It was thought that the inaccessible beach of Chale Bay and the tales of pirates and smugglers intrigued him, and he came up with the idea for a park with amusements.

So Much Fun

Family fun is at the heart of what Blackgang Chine is about. And, the operators continually strive to make the park more exciting. This year there is a new attraction ride called Extinction. Throughout the year there are many events, such as Cowboys versus Dinosaurs, Summer Fest and Frights and Sprites.

Riverfest is an Isle of Wight Award-Winning Fun, Free, Family Event.
Riverfest takes place every May in Newport.

The event has the feel of a traditional village fete, with many free activities for children. Local charities attend to promote the work they do in the community, helping people and the local environment.

Newport Quay is owned by the Isle of Wight Council, and organised by Newport Carnival & Community Events Association.
